Lumiere continues its aspirations to be sustainable and to support local communities, international and local charities, including UNICEF, as well as offering workshops, apprenticeships and internships to young people and to champion aspiring artists. We’re taking real steps to reduce our environmental impact. We monitor and actively reduce our energy use, and operate a three-bin waste system that, through our partner FirstMile, turns waste into energy. Sustainability runs through our daily operations — from using eco-friendly products to making conscious choices in how our venues are maintained and run.

At our Underwood flagship location, we offer full accessibility with wheelchair access, accessible toilets, an external ramp, and lifts to all floors. Across all our venues, we cater to dietary requirements, have a diverse and experienced team trained in inclusive practices, enforce robust anti-harassment policies, and provide flexible event spaces.

We share information about the cultural heritage sites within walking distance of each venue to help guests connect with the area.
Planet
We’re committed to reducing our environmental impact and making sustainable choices across our venues. From energy use to waste management, we aim to protect the planet while creating thoughtful, responsible spaces for our community.
ENERGY
We use LED and sensor lighting to reduce energy waste. Eight out of ten venues are powered by renewable energy providers like Octopus and Opus. We actively monitor our energy use to continually lower our carbon footprint.
WASTE
We recycle 98% of our waste and send nothing to landfill. Every room has bins for food, mixed, and general waste. Unrecyclable waste is turned into energy and biofertilizer by First Mile. We avoid food waste by offering leftovers to clients and staff, and sharing through the OLIO app
Catering
We offer locally and ethically sourced menus that cater to all dietary needs, with plenty of plant-based options. All allergens are clearly indicated alongside each dish to ensure safety and transparency.
